Czech Legion in Russia WWI Ekaterinburg Train Soldier Artist Signed Patriotic Card
Item #:90310
FrankingUnused
Price$25.00
Patriotic donation postcard of Czech-purloined train in Ekaterinburg, for the Czech Legion in Russia during and shortly after WWI featuring artwork by the soldiers doing the actual fighting. Ekaterinburg is where the Communists executed the Tsar and his family, rightly fearing that the Czechs would liberate them. Excellent unused condition, as per scans. The Legion had great success fighting for the Russians at Zborov, but after the Tsar was deposed and the Communists took over they were to be disarmed, a fate to which they took exception. So, like any of us would do, they decided to take over the Trans-Siberian railway and carved their own rolling iron empire out of the former Russia crown's east. The Allies weakly supported them (mostly with words) in fighting the Communists, but ultimately their revolution sputtered to a halt and they evacuated out of (mostly) Valdivostok.
